DFW Editors Blind To Needs Of Child

By now, the story of Baby Gabriel Brandt is well known around Oregon.  Gabriel was put into foster care by the state when he was 4 months old.  His mother pled guilty to felony drug charges but then fled before sentencing, and is nowhere to be found.  His father, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, was released from Oregon prison last month after serving time on drug charges. He had also been twice convicted of attempted first-degree rape involving a child.  So the parental rights of both parents had been officially severed by the state, and Gabe had been given to Steve and Angela Brandt as a foster child.  The Brandts were told that they had a good chance to adopt Gabe.

More Hypocrisy From Fish Wrapper On Falwell

Since the recent death of Jerry Falwell, the wackos on the left and their compatriots in the liberal media have been, as expected, taking their shots at Jerry Falwell. The Daily Dead Fish Wrapper jumps right in with an editorial about Falwell.

It actually starts out in a pretty straightforward manner.

Studies In Liberal Bias: Ignore National Day of Prayer, Promote Bogus Carbon Credits

For today's demonstration of the liberal bias served up daily in the Daily Dead Fish Wrapper, we will compare and contrast, and throw in a little ignored stories action, too.

Bias On Display In Favor Of Murdering Children

On Wednesday (4/18/07) the Supreme Court upheld the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003 by a vote of 5-4. This law bans a very gruesome form of late term abortion where, as described to the judge in National Abortion Federation vs. Ashcroft

the physician grasps the fetus's lower extremity with fingers or forceps and pulls the fetus through the cervix and vagina until its head is lodged in the cervical opening. At this point, the fetus's arms and legs have been delivered outside the uterus while the fetus is still alive. With the fetus's head lodged in the cervix, the physician punctures the skull with scissors or crushes the head with forceps.... The physician then drains the fetus's skull by suction, or by using a finger, and the skull collapses.

Editors Display Ignorance on Knowledge of Familiy Stability

In one of their latest editorials on the liberal push to cirumvent the wish of Oregon's voters in regards to same sex marriages, the Fish Wrapper editors continue to push the lie that these bills would strenghen gay and lesbian families.

Most of the piece rehashes the testimony from the legislaitve hearings this past Monday on Senate Bill 2 and House Bill 2007. These bills would create special rights for homosexuals and also come as close as possible to creating gay marriage in spite of the passage of Measure 36 in 2004 by a large margin.

Fish Wrapper Twists Court Ruling To Fit Global Warming Hype Agenda

The editors of the Daily Dead Fish Wrapper are at it again on one of their favorite topics, global warming. In today's editorial, they also employ the usual tactic of twisting an event to suit their pre-determined opinion. In this case, the title "The air clears on climate change" is very misleading because it applies to a case about the regulatory powers of the EPA.

The purpose of the article is the recent Supreme Court ruling in a case where the issue was whether the EPA had the authority to regulate carbon dioxide emissions. According to the title, you would think that the ruling provided definitive scientific evidence of anthropogenic global warming (and exactly when was the last time that judges were scientific experts?). Instead, it was just 12 states getting the liberal wingnuts of the Supreme Court to go along with them and try to force the administration to hamstring our economy.

Fish Wrapper Praises Congress For Violating Constitution

On and on the liberal cowardice goes at the Fish Wrapper, and so does the selective listening. Today's example of this is an editorial by the Fish Wrapper about Congress's cowardice in the passing of the emergency spending bills with stipulations on a timetable for pulling troops out of Iraq as well as $21 billion in pork spending. But that's conveniently not the point. The point is that Congress is putting it's (pork) foot down.

Fish Wrapper Ignores Dems Pork Overflow in Emergency Spending Bill For Troops

The Dead Fish Wrapper editorial board never ceases to amaze me with their ability to filter out relevant information in order to show only the liberal side of an issue, and today they give a classic example. The issue in the editorial is HR 1592, the cowardly pork-laden funding resolution from the U.S. House that provides $103 billion in funding for the military in Afghanistan and Iraq, but also calls for complete withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq by August of 2008, and is also laden down with an additional $21 billion in pork spending by Democrats.

Editors Choose To Ignore Facts About Valerie Plame and Joe Wilson

Move Mike has a good article about Saturday's editorial on Valerie Plame.

The Oregonian has an editorial today that says The spy speaks at last. It quotes Valerie Plame saying

For the record, Plame also told the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on Friday she was not involved in sending her husband, mid-level diplomat Joseph Wilson, to Africa to research Saddam Hussein's nuclear ambitions. She said she never suggested his name and didn't have the authority to send him.

A little research by The Oregonian would reveal that the Senate Intelligence Committee Report as reported in the Washington Post back in July of 2004

...states that a CIA official told the Senate committee that Plame "offered up" Wilson's name for the Niger trip, then on Feb. 12, 2002, sent a memo to a deputy chief in the CIA's Directorate of Operations saying her husband "has good relations with both the PM [prime minister] and the former Minister of Mines (not to mention lots of French contacts), both of whom could possibly shed light on this sort of activity." The next day, the operations official cabled an overseas officer seeking concurrence with the idea of sending Wilson, the report said.

The Oregonian again quotes Plame as saying

He went to Niger, drew his conclusions, reported them to his superiors, then heard the president cite the uranium connection he thought he had debunked. He wrote his famous op-ed column for The New York Times and soon thereafter, his wife's professional life was ruined.

Again a little research not only in the Senate Intelligence Committee Report

The panel found that Wilson's report, rather than debunking intelligence about purported uranium sales to Iraq, as he has said, bolstered the case for most intelligence analysts. And contrary to Wilson's assertions and even the government's previous statements, the CIA did not tell the White House it had qualms about the reliability of the Africa intelligence that made its way into 16 fateful words in President Bush's January 2003 State of the Union address.

but in Slate by Christopher Hitchens, Sorry everyone, but Iraq did go uranium shopping in Niger.

There is no excuse for this kind of editorial in a one paper city unless you have an agenda!

Trying To Circumvent Oregon's Voters On Same-Sex Marriage

Liberals are great about talking about respecting everyone and treating them all equally, except when people don't agree with them; then, the libs decide don't have to respect them at all. Today's editorial in the Fish Wrapper on equality for gays and lesbians shows how liberals and gay activists have no respect for the voters of Oregon.

In 2004, Oregon, along with numerous other states, by a large majority (57% to 43%) passed Measure 36, which defined marriage in the state constitution as being between one man and one woman. Ever since then, the libs have been doing everything they can to make an end run around the clearly stated wish of the voters and find some sort of gay marriage alternative.
